BJP leaders have not believed in women’s empowerment: Ramalingareddy

@BasanagoudaBJP There is a popular saying that the development of a society depends on greater participation of women in all social spheres. Unfortunately, the elite leaders of the @BJP4Karnataka have not believed in women’s empowerment.

A mainstream media outlet, The Guardian (UK), referred to the Shakti Scheme as a “Ticket to Freedom,” highlighting how free bus rides for women have sparked joy for millions in Karnataka. It has become clear that the concept of ‘freedom for women’ is intolerable for the BJP and its elite leaders. This is why they seem to target one of the most significant women empowerment programs, Shakti, every few days.

During the tenure of the BJP government under Chief Ministers Shri Yediyurappa and Shri Bommai, employees of the Transport Corporations often did not receive their full monthly salaries. Sometimes they received only half of their salary, and payments were frequently delayed until the end of the month or even into the following month. If you are unaware of this, I suggest you confirm it with your leaders.

In contrast, during our government’s tenure, KSRTC and KKRTC employees receive their salaries on the 1st of every month, while BMTC and NWKRTC employees are paid by the 7th.

Under the BJP government, only “Dakota” buses were provided to the corporations, and in the last five years, not a single new bus was added except for BMTC. Despite there being 13,888 vacancies in the Transport Corporations due to retirements and other reasons, no recruitment took place during that time. The BJP also left the Transport Corporations with a loss of ₹5,900 crore.

To illustrate the success of the Shakti Scheme, consider these statistics: the number of passengers traveling on KSRTC buses increased from 8.4 million to 11.5 million. Daily revenue for all four corporations rose from ₹23.01 crore to ₹32.52 crore. The daily trips increased from 158,909 to 169,627, resulting in an additional 10,718 trips daily.

Our government has approved the induction of 5,800 new buses. In the last year and three months, 3,320 buses have been added. We have also approved recruitment for 9,000 new positions, issued appointment orders for 1,883 posts, and the recruitment process for another 6,500 posts is underway. Nearly 500 compassionate ground appointments have been issued in the past year.

In a recent tweet, it was claimed that certain proceedings indicated a loss; however, these proceedings were not prepared by the BMTC. They stemmed from a meeting in another department, leading to a misquote of “loss” instead of “revenue due.” In accounting terminology, revenue due is considered an outstanding amount until it is received; it does not imply that the organization is at a loss. For BMTC, the average daily revenue prior to Shakti was ₹4.96 crore, which has now increased to ₹6.04 crore. Daily passengers prior to Shakti were 33 lakhs, and now that figure has risen to 40 lakhs. Over the last year, BMTC alone has added 325 new buses.

There is now a visible sense of happiness and satisfaction among women who can travel across the state without spending a single penny. This is the true recognition and success of the Shakti Scheme.

The Shakti Scheme has unsettled BJP leaders and stands as one of the most popular women empowerment initiatives of our government. This success is clearly unbearable for them. I sympathize for them and wish them the best of luck.
