I appreciate and welcome the decision made in the all party meeting to rise SC reservation from existing 15% to 17% and ST reservation from 3% to 7%.
I and Siddaramaiah once had a prolonged discussion in Mysore about the increase in SC, ST reservation.
Siddaramaiah led Congress govt appointed a committee headed by Justice Nagamohandas to look into the feasibility of increasing reservation to SC, ST communities. Justice Nagamohandas, as per the terms of reference travelled throughout the state and submitted a detailed and objective report to the government.
Later, the government was changed before verifying and implementing it.
Now, when govt takes the decision to implement it, we feel proud for initiating this in our tenure. It is a credit for the Congress govt’s foresight towards providing social justice.
Along with this if we implement the recommendations of the caste census report, we will come to know the social,political, eclducational and economic status of various communities. Our party is committed to implement it when we get a chance.
